Sports For Health starts today

The event, jointly organised by the Ministries of Sports and Health, and coordinated by the National Sports Council NSC, is designed to provide a chance for busy and inactive working adults and business people to spend three days of active sports activities.  Day One features a match past of all participants and speeches by the Ministers of Heath and Sports as well as the Vice President. These will be followed by football and volleyball matches, athletics and aerobics as well as voluntary screening for diabetics, high blood pressure or obesity of willing participants.

“This programme is borne out of the realisation that lack of exercise can lead to health problems.” Marcel Mendy, Executive Director at the National Sports Council, NSC, recently told The Standard. The programme continues with more activities tomorrow  while Sunday is reserved for the finals of the sport events.
