Abass Hydara, the eldest son of the late Darsilameh Caliph Muhideen Hydara, has said the group of Sheriffs who went to State House to pledge allegiance to President Barrow didn’t represent the Sheriff community in The Gambia.
A group of Sheriffs including the airport Imam Alhaiba Hydara and Sidat Hydara last week visited the Gambian leader at State House and assured him of the support of the country’s Sheriff community. They reportedly promised to go around the country to speak to Sheriffs to support the president.
However, Abass Hydara said: “I want to make it clear that the Sheriffs have no interest in taking part in politics. Those who went to State House did so on their own accord; they were not representing us.”
