By Juldeh Njie The new minister for tourism Hamat NK Bah has disclosed that the current tourist season which was disrupted by the recent political impasse has started picking up again with the lifting of the travel ban. Speaking at his maiden press conference, Bah said the political impasse and uncertainty had led the British government among other nations to issue travel advice against visiting the Gambia. “That has led to a mad rush back home as travel operators airlift almost every visitor. But even then we were not sleeping. Along with the Gambia Tourism Board we were able to consult the British, American and European union representatives here to ensure that we convinced them to consider lifting the travel ban as soon as things normalized, that’s why you can see the tourists back this soon,” he said.
