Coach Tom Saintfiet has called up a 26- man squad for the Scorpions’ October training camp in Morocco. The camp, which opens on Monday, will feature three international friendly matches involving the Gambia, Morocco, Comoros and Sierra Leone. It is in preparation for the Gambia first appearance in the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon beginning January 9.
The biggest news in this selection is of course the presence of former Manchester United wing-back, Saidy Janko. He has represented Switzerland in U-21 but could not have the breakthrough to represent the Swiss at the senior level.
Molde’s Sheriff Sinyan too has earned a call-up following a lengthy absenteeism. Combative midfielder Ebou Adams and Salford experienced defender Ibou Touray are all in the squad.
However, Hamza Barry very much expected to be available is out, still recovering from his lengthy injury. Absent too are Abdoulie Sanyang and Ebrima Colley, both to injuries.
