Six people from Brikama were charged with assaulting a police officer, aiding prisoners to escape, stealing, and willfully damaging property.
The accused persons are Anta Secka, Famara Sanneh, Alpha Sowe, Sulayman Sanneh, Modou Lamin Dembelly and David Sambou.
Police prosecutor cadet ASP Buteh Sawaneh alleged that the accused persons on 6 July 2020, at Brikama Misira police post obstructed Sergeant Makang MK Touray, a police officer while executing his lawful duties.
Count two said the accused helped Sulayman Sanneh, who was in lawful custody at Misira police post to escape.
Count 3 alleged that the accused persons at the said police post stole a mobile phone valued at 8000 dalasi and D4000 cash.
They are also accused of tearing a criminal case file.
The accused persons however pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against them.
The principal Magistrate Cham granted them bail in the sum of 5000,00 dalasi each with one Gambian surety.
The matter is adjourned to July 28.
