The Spectrum Poet
It’s high time we ended
The most bitter of all times
That washes away African child’s dreams
The ethnic contestation
That buried his brethren
From Rwanda to Kenya
It’s high time we ended
The most bitter of all times
Sorry stories of an African child
The robbery in his names
From the lands of Congo to South Sudan
That leaves him in hunger
Dethrone and devalue his existence
To wonder and harvest in poverty
It’s high time we ended
The most bitter of all times
That denies frolicsome childhood
From the lands of South Sudan to Somalia
Under the throne of malnuritition, starvation,
Carnage, cholera, rape
It’s high time we ended
The most bitter of all times
That propel African child
From the shores of his motherland
To wild lands of imperialists
It’s high time we ended
The most bitter of all times
That eclipse African brotherhood
Through colonial boundaries
By a long shot
It’s high time we rose
from the ashes
We are in the most bitter of all times.
