A taxi driver accused of serial rape and robbery, Ismaila Ndong, was yesterday arraigned before Justice Francis Achibonga of the High Court in Banjul charged with eight counts including rape and robbery with violence.
Ndong pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape and five counts of robbery with violence which occurred in different locations.
The taxi driver was alleged to have raped three women (names withheld) on 21st November 2019 in Busumbala, 26th November 2019 in Brufut, and 4th December 2019 in Bakau respectively.
He was also accused of violently robbing four women (names withheld) of their personal effects, monies and mobile phones on 21st and 26th November 2019 and 4th December 2019 in Bakau, at Traffic Light on Kairaba Avenue, Brufut and Busumbala respectively.
Justice Achibonga remanded the accused person to prison custody and adjourned the matter to next week for prosecution to call its witness for hearing.
