The National Assembly Select Committee on Sports has written a letter to the National Sports Committee (NSC) outlining its position on the ongoing row over Gambia Football Federation (GFF).
In the letter the committee said after a meeting on 15 January, it has decided that the matter of the GFF was purely an administrative matter that should be handled by the NSC.
However according to the committee, the allegation of fraud and tax evasion against the federation should be reported to the Inspector General of Police as required by law for necessary action.
Background.
The NSC and the GFF have been at loggerheads since November after the former announced plans to investigate allegations of fraud, match fixing among other things against the GFF by some stakeholders.
The GFF refused to comply saying the NSC has no such mandate and the people making those allegations were the same people wanting to do the investigations themselves which is against natural justice.
The matter was temporarily solved after the Office of the President called for a truce and dialogue in the wake of a possible sanction by Fifa.
However the matter was referred to the National Assembly Select Committee for consideration which has now made the recommendations above.
