The Gambia national team of domestic league players CHAN leaves town today for Mali via Dakar. The team is chasing a much-needed win or score draw against Mali after failing to score at home. They however managed to stop Mali, a much experienced and battle hardened side from scoring what would have been an all important away goal. That dream of an away goal is now the priority of coach Alagie Sarr who must change style and personnel to contend a formidable home side and maintain an adventurous attacking line.
The goalless draw in Banjul, when repeated will invite the inevitable and much dreaded tie breaking penalty shootouts. The public back home has no idea how Sarr and his men are prepared for that. The return leg is on Saturday July 22.
