Defeated independent candidate for Brikama North Constituency Fabakary Nyonyo Bojang, has defined last month’s April polls as free, fair and transparent.
“The election was fair and transparent and I in particular accepted the defeat and I wish the victors a successful five-year term in the most noble assembly house. I will also like to urge them to represent the voice of their people” he told The Standard shortly after his defeat.

He said both the defeated and the winners were aspiring to develop their communities and give their people proper representation.
“I hope those who are elected by their various constituencies will represent their people to the best of their ability. I will also like to take this opportunity to advise all the parliamentarians to be law-abiding, but more importantly they should avoid being rubberstamp parliamentarians, because that will not help the new dispensation.”

The unsuccessful candidate also stressed that the elected parliamentarians should try their utmost best to serve the nation’s interest.

He continued: “It’s also important to note that our supporters and sympathisers are very dedicated in ensuring a better Gambia. But what is important now is for all of us to rally behind those who are elected”.
He thanked his supporters for their “unflinching support” both during and after the parliamentary election.
