With four matches to go and leading by 9 points, Fortune FC of Farato is still the best placed team to lift the GFF league title. The Petroleum boys were on the brink of celebrating the tile in last weekend fixtures when they were stopped by Gamtel, who ruined their unbeaten record by lashing them 1-0.
That result cut their lead to 9 points ahead of the rest of the pack led by Wallidan a surprise sleeping giant that had suddenly waken to overtake the league’s recent big guns Real, GAF, GPA among others.
As the league enters Week 23 on Thursday, Fortune FC could be home and dry with a victory over nearest rival Wallidan. That will place them on an unassailable 46 points lead.
Fortune however could still be in danger if they remove their feet from the gas in this week’s fixture. A defeat to Wallidan could dangerously delay or threaten their march to the title, especially because Wallidan have of late transformed themselves into a team seemingly on a path to conquer.
Further down the table, and rather surprisingly, Manjai’s Marimoo is fighting for survival as well as BK Milan which made a strong start to the league. Tallinging United is just three points ahead of BK Milan, however there is still time in the next four weeks for each of these teams to salvage themself.
