The Gambia Football Federation, GFF, has said the national CHAN team will take part in the West African Football Union, Wafu, Nation’s Cup slated for Ghana this September. At the close of the deadline for confirmation last night, GFF secretary general Abass Bah said The Gambia revealed that his federation has long made confirmation to take part since the initial dates for the tourney was announced for June. “The initial schedule was postponed and the recent reminder from Wafu was meant for associations who were yet to confirm their participation. We made ours since,” Mr Bah said.
The tournament will be a litmus test for Wafu itself, which must deliver a good program to remain in partnership with new sponsors Fox after many decades of decadence. Wafu is now split into Zones A and B with Zone A based in Banjul headed by Gambian Jammeh Bojang as secretary general.
The Gambia’s CHAN team is coached by Alagie Sarr  who will be busy at many fronts, including of course the qualifiers for the next CHAN tourney.
