It is now official. The first round, first leg fixture between The Gambia’s Under 17 national team and Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers will be staged on December 2 with The Gambia playing at home.
The girls made themselves heroines after heavily beating Sierra Leone 3-0 in Bo, and with the Freetownians having dodged the second leg, The Gambia was pushed to this stage.
But the position at this stage could not be tougher. Ghana is a strong footballing nation and never overlooked any category and are known to be the continent’s ruler at this level.
However, the GFF announced on its website that ahead of the much-anticipated game coming next Saturday December 2, the Gambian team has been warming up at the GFF Football Hotel in Yundum.
Ghana will arrive in Banjul by the middle of next week and Gambia’s coach Abdoulie Bojang, is currently winding up training with the team at the National Technical Training Centre and the stadium.
The Gambia is to reach the finals for the second time, after her 2012 appearance in Azerbaijan.
