Gambians inspire LISCR to first leg win

By Lamin Cham

Coach Tapha Manneh and his Gambian export Bully Drammeh captured the imagination of Liberians as they inspire their champions LISCR to a 1- nil victory over African giants Al-Hilal of Sudan on Sunday.
The Sudanese arrived in Monrovia confident of walk-over, given their pedigree compared to Tapha Manneh’s LISCR in the African competitions. But the coach from The Gambia read the visitors well and fielded a hungry side that included Bully Drammeh, who played an inspirational role in the victory beating of the visitors. The match was witnessed by President George Weah who took time to shake hands with all the players encouraging them to fly the Liberian flag. The next leg in Khartoum or Omdurman will tell the story as which way the tie will go. But for now Manneh and his Gambian exports remain the bearers of the golden bracelet in Liberian football.
