The appeal committee in the GFF electoral process last night concluded its sittings over the 5-appeal case filed by the opposition Malick Sillah Camp. The five candidates who had their nomination rejected are Essa Jallow, Kaba Ceesay, Star Njie, Mariama Jobarteh and Musa K Jawara.
The Electoral Committee had said their nominations were either not adequately authenticated or provided false information.
Last night The Standard spoke to a source in the appeal committee who confirmed that all 5 appeals have been rejected and the disqualifications stood.
According to our sources the Appeal Committee went through all the information relied on by the Electoral Committee and the counter claims filed by the Sillah- Camp and discovered the electoral commissions decision was right in rejecting the candidates. Our source said the Appeal Committee had insisted on written communications rather telephone conversations but have found the disqualifications to be in order.
This development now means that only Malick Sillah and his third Vice president candidate Foday Danjo have been nominated.
The Standard sought reactions from the Malick Sillah camp on the recent development but a spokesman of the group said they will have to receive all information first before they could make a statement.
