The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) announced yesterday that in accordance with its electoral law nominations for the August 18 elective congress will close at 12 noon on July 19.
A statement from Football House also revealed that nomination papers can still be collected at the GFF headquarters in Kanifing and returned before or on July 19.
This year’s elective congress will elect a new leadership for the Federation with a new four-year mandate with the mandate of the current Executive Committee coming to an end in September, 2018.

According to the GFF all matters relating to the Elective Congress are under the purview of the GFF Electoral Committee headed by Dodou Joof Capy whose commitee was elected by stakeholders at this year’s Extraordinary General Assembly on February 17. So far only former referee Malick Sillah and incumbent President Lamin Kaba Bajo have shown interest to run for president. Bajo’s team intends to line up Bakary Jammeh as 1st Vice president replacing Star Jallow, Ebou Faye as second VP and Lang Tombong Tamba as 3rd Vice president replacing Martin Gomez. The Sillah team is yet to name its line up since he declared his candidature in early June.
