The Gambia Football Federation, GFF, yesterday announced major policy decisions regarding its organisation of the national league and financial support to the clubs.
The new measures were announced at the club management meeting held at Football Hotel, Yundum.
According to the GFF, all league clubs, male and female, will receive D50,000 preparation allowances in addition to D100, 000 to each First and Second Division teams for transportation costs. The GFF as usual will take care of female teams’ transport costs.
The GFF also announced it will provide transports to and from Soma for all matches to be played there.
This year too, according to Football House all league clubs in both the male and female first and second divisions will not pay registration fees.
For the two Gambian clubs currently in African club competitions, the GFF says it will give D250, 000 to each and provide them with five days camping during home matches as well as air tickets and indemnities of the match officials coming to officiate in Banjul.
New competition
There will also be a new competition to be called Alhagie Omar Sey trophy to be competed by teams between 1st to 8th positions in the league, the prize for which shall be D100, 000 for the champion and D50, 000 for the runners up.
The GFF also hopes to introduce a professional league in 2020/2021 to be run by an Independent body.
