A three-day D’ License Coaching Clinic for beginners is underway at the Football Hotel in Yundum organized by the Gambia Football Coaches Association, an allied association of the Gambia Football Federation, GFF.
The course is designed to introduce new entrants to coaching which is expected to benefit players they will eventually coach or are coaching. The GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo told the participants and instructors that the program for technicians is a core value in the strategic vision of the GFF.
Bajo added that any program that deals with capacity building is always given priority at the GFF. President Bajo thanked the Coaches Association for the change of baton from one leadership to another. Bajo a keen enthusiast of female football used the occasion to challenge the Coaches Association to increase the inclusion of females in future trainings.
He said he is looking forward to the staging of a C License too.
In apparent reference to the upcoming elections, President Bajo gave a very candid advice to the technicians. “Stay away from football politics and concentrate on your domains ‘in order to survive the different political regimes.”he said.
The President of the GFCA Pa Suwareh Faye also thanked the participants for their interest in the training while GFF General Secretary Lamin M Jassey advised the beginners to take the course seriously and practice what is been learnt.
The participants numbering 26 are drawn from GFF League Div 2, schools and academy training grounds.
The instructors are Hon Alagi Sillah, Lamin Sambou and GFF Ebrima Nyassi. The training is been supervised by Technical Director Sang Ndong.
