Maahad Senior Secondary School in Brikama Jamisa in the West Coast Region, recently held its traditional passing-out ceremony for 300 grade 12 students.
The event was organised at the school’s campus, attended by parents, guardians, teachers and a cross section of community leaders.
School principal Lamin M Bojang, praised the graduates for their shinning achievements.
“Maahad will continue to make sure quality education is always provided here for our students,” he said, adding that there was a 57 percent pass in core subjects that students sat.
He thanked the parents for sending their children to learn at Maahad School, and promised that quality education will always be provided for the students.
“Add value to your society and contribute positively to its development,’ he advised.
The guest speaker and ex-student Mustapha Colley, spoke on the importance of peace and security in national development, and reminded graduates that the passing-out program was only the beginning of their journey towards making living a fulfilled and meaningful life.
“The most sought after commodities are peace and security,” Colley told the students.
“Peace and security are key and crucial to sustainable national development, and to achieving the SDGs.
No nation boosts of development in the absence of peace and security,” the ex-student stated.
Speaking further, he said peace and security brings about improved infrastructure, good roads, electricity, water, and other basic necessities.
Prizes were given to deserving students and others received school-leaving certificates.
