Mr Poggioli has a two-year contract to run the affairs of Alliance Française which he officially started on 17 October.
“I want to develop Alliance and make sure Alliance fulfils its aim and objectives. We still remain a cross-cultural centre and want to contribute to the development of The Gambia through culture. I am happy that Alliance is running well at the moment. Alliance is there for everybody and for all kinds of programmes. The premises are for rent and in some situations free.
“In terms of shows here, we would like to work with our partners and clients but now things will change a bit. We were receiving subventions which are not coming anymore and Alliance needs to survive. We will be very reasonable but we will be more limited,” he said
The new director said in 2015, he will increase programme cost in Alliance and provide better services while developing partnership. Alliance, he said, is 99% Gambian as most of the affairs of its affairs are run by Gambians.
