Waati-wo-waati baa yerray yaa kungo jija tang tango la kuma kangola… amang taray dong kang.-
Barri waati-wo-waati, ayeh forango moi abeh tang tang kulo kosi-kang, aka wuluwo dimo lay kalamuta!
As the terrific facts of the November 11th 1994 events unveil,
More tears of mental pain are shed to an extent that a boat can sail
The killers on this day did not only fail the trust Gambians had in them but it was the whole humanity they failed
Why has man always turned benevolence from the head of issues to the tail?
Why couldn’t they simply take the victims to jail?
Even they won’t be granted bail
Yes, it is true that the Qur’an said “kullu naffsin-zaaa-ekatul mawt”
“Every soul must taste death”
But God did not give the right to any soul
And in fact, taking a single soul has been equated to taking the lives of the whole humanity
Y maneh, no mother gave birth to a child just to be killed before the age of thirty eight
No soldier left his house for his family to hear announcement of his death-
But November 11th, 1994 marked a day when our bright soldiers were made to face their horrific fate
A day when members of the same army
People who vowed to serve the same purpose
People who were living like brothers kept the Angel of Death busy in our beloved motherland
As the lives of their own brothers were taken in grand style
November 11th, 1994
A day marked red on our calendars,
To remember when our Smiling Coast was placed in terror and horror
And to remember our fallen brothers and heroes
Whose memories feel our hearts with sorrow
Especially when we hear names of Dot Faal, Fafa Nyang and Basiru Barrow
We feel the pain deep to our bone marrow-
As our joy was cut down to zero
As we count 26 years of their demise,-
We hope God makes it a ‘bitter blessing’ in disguise-
And not to leave us in pain or in another man’s despise-
We hope justice to pass even it may be hot like a spice-
Or perhaps forgive but never forget and strive for NEVER AGAIN!
May their souls Rest In Peace. Ameen
