Resurgent Gambia to tame Congo’s devils today

The unusual air of confidence that gripped Gambian football in the wake of a 3-1 win in faraway Angola last week could escalate to an even more exciting spectacle today if the Scorpions can beat DR Congo at the Independence Stadium.

The match will be the second night in the qualifiers of the African Nations Cup which will be hosted in Cameroon in 2021.

The Gambia has never got such a fantastic start in all her attempts to reach the Afcon for more than half a century and the players and officials are beginning to believe that perhaps the long wait will be over.

Tonight the Scorpions will play DR Congo hoping to use home advantage to pick all three points and sit on a formidable cushion until the campaign resumes next year. This evening’s match kicks off at 4PM.
