ROAD TO CAMEROON TO BE LAUNCHED

The much- awaited national preparation for the Gambia’s participation in the Africa Nations Cup starts this weekend at State House with the launching of the national coordinating committee and the Road To Cameroon Campaign.

According to sources, the launching will be presided over by President Barrow who would also unveil members of a national coordinating committee, NCC. This body would be tasked to coordinate the preparation for the country’s participation in the biggest football event in Africa, the CAN, taking place in Cameroon in January. The preparation will include raising funds among other activities connected to the project.

According to our sources, the NCC would be chaired by the Minister of Youth and Sports with the president of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) to serve as vice chairman. Three other members of GFF too will serve in the committee. There will also be the deputy permanent secretary for technical from MoYS, representatives from the Sports Journalists’ Association, the GCCI, the joint security operations, Office Of The President, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Sports Council, Ministry of Finance as well as private individuals.

The Gambia will meet Mauritania, Tunisia and Mali in the group stages.
