The lad from Bakau, better known as Mamanding, signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen to become the second Gambian to play in that league after Dawda Bah.
On hearing the news, The Standard contacted local Rush Academy officials who confirmed the deal for the 17-year-old lad. Manneh joined the Gambian club of the Rush Academy family chain in 2004.
News about the signing also featured in the popular Gambia football Facebook page Gambia F league.
Rush Gambia Technical Director, coach Aboulie Bojang, said he is delighted about the good news. “Am very much motivated and inspired by this news. This is the second player from our academy to go professional; the first one is Kekuta Manneh who is a well known name in the MLS. All these go to show that we are doing a very good job,” he said.
