Mr Modou O.Njie has been elected the new President of the Serekunda East Sports Committee, after elections held over weekend ending a long standing off between stakeholders there. The congress finally took place after the National Assembly select committee on sports who were asked to advise forwarded a series of recommendations that were implemented by the stakeholders including the holding of a congress. The zone, the biggest Nawetan zone in the country has been gripped by a deep seated difference between stakeholders who many believed are divided alongside national football political lines. However many stakeholders have told The Standard that there were many genuine grievances about the management that have nothing to do with politics but the time has now arrived for the zone to move on.
