Alieu Ceesay, the Secretary General of the Sports journalist Association, SJAG is in Ashgabat, Turmenistan to take part in the 2017 All Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games at the invitation of the organisers
An expected total of 6000 athletes will be competing in 21 events in this 10 days event from 45 nations. Almost all African sports press associations including the SJAG have been invited to send in one representative with all expenses paid by the organisers
The Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will be held at the Ashgabat Olympic Complex, which is a unique facility which has no parallel in the Central Asian region. The Complex boasts of over 30 structures, which also includes 15 competition venues, an Athletes’ Village and a Paralympic Rehabilitation Medical Center.
A total of 2,000 medals will be produced for the Games, weighing 721 kilograms all-together.
All 45 member countries of the Olympic Council of Asia were invited to compete at these Games. For the first time in the Asian Games will be attended by 17 Oceania National Olympic Committees
Ashgabat, is the first in the former Soviet Central Asian region, won the right to host the Asian Indoor Games.
The event commences from the 17 Sept, to the 27 th.
