As demanded by Caf, Gambia Coach Tom Saintfiet has released a provisional 40-man squad ahead of the Gambia’s debut in the Africa Cup of Nations next month. The Belgian will trim the list to a final 28 players, before the tournament.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Caf has allowed participating teams to take up to 28 players as opposed to 23. ”This is to allow each team to have enough personnel in case of infections or other things related to it. At the moment the coach would have to work very closely with his technical team to begin ticking his final 28 names. The Gambia now has a lot of talents spread around the world. It will be tough for the coach,” a GFF official said yesterday.
