Supreme Court commences sittings

The Supreme Court of The Gambia yesterday commenced sittings at the Law Complex on Independence Drive.

The full 7 bench of judges headed by Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow presided over general call over of cases pending before it.

According to judicial sources, the Court is expected to deliver landmark judgments on cases such as the Ya Kumba Jaiteh vs the Clerk of the National Assembly and others, Muhammed Bazzi vs The Attorney General, Feryale Ghanem vs The Attorney General, Ibrahim Jallow vs The President and others as well as ANM Ousainu Darboe vs The Attorney General.

There is also appeal cases like Amadou Sanneh vs The State, Terrick Bright vs the State, and Lamin Jah vs the State amongst others.

The other judges in the panel are Justice Gibou S.B Janneh, Justice Raymond C. Sock, Justice A. D. Yahaya from Nigeria, Justice Nicholas Marke-Browne from Sierra-Leone, Justice Sulayman Cherno Jallow and Justice Mam Mary Yassin Sey.
The Supreme Court sitting would end on the 31st July, 2019.
