Alagie Saidy Barrow, the lead investigator at the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission has left his post after opting not to renew his contract which expires later this month.

While confirming Mr Barrow’s departure, an inside source told The Standard that most of the staff have options to renew or leave after each expiry of their contractand it is normal that some choose to stay while others leave.

Commenting on the matter, Barrow wrote on his Facebook page: “My resignation from the TRRC will be effective on the 15th of this month. Please note that I am resigning for personal and professional reasons. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with a wonderful team at the Research and Investigations Unit and I am thankful to my supervisors Dr Baba Jallow and his deputy, Musu Bakoto Sawo. I am also grateful to the entire TRRC staff for their support and guidance. Importantly, I am humbled and grateful to the Victims and witnesses who trusted us enough to share their stories with the team. I will continue to support the work of the TRRC and the Victims in any way that I can. I thank you all for your well wishes and prayers”.
