The Gambia and three other countries in Zone A, Ghana Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mali and Mauritania have been told that they will now be based at Elimina instead of Takoradi after the Wafu organising committee said the initial Group venue is not ready.

The organizing committee said the venue has to be shifted ‘because of structural defects at the stadium in Takoradi and the danger it could pose to fans during the tournament.
Cape Coast remains the venue for the Zone B matches.
Gambia takes on hosts Ghana in the tournament opener on Saturday the 9th.

The 16-team tournament is such that the first round of matches is a knock-out with eight winners progressing to be divided into two groups of four teams each while the eight losers head back home.
