Mai Fatty, the leader of the Gambia Moral Congress, GMC has said his party will stand by President Adama Barrow in the implementation of the National Development Plan, NDP. In his new year’s message to his party published on his Facebook page, Mr Fatty urged all GMC members to take ownership of the NDP. “Strengthening all mechanisms that would achieve the success of a document we helped create over a year ago, would be our priority and consequently, we will stand fully with President Barrow and his government in efforts to fulfill the goals of the NDP, with maximum commitment and seriousness,” he said. According to Mr Fatty, who has just been appointed special presidential adviser, the GMC under his leadership “will not, and will never be party to any situation that will subordinate national interests in favour of personal interests. “We believe it is possible to advance a political aspiration without destroying personal relations, and we will not use a political advantage to undermine national interests. Also, we will not permit partisan flavour to cloud our vision for a better Gambia or put us on a confrontational path with anyone in government or outside, to satisfy those who have a different agenda. We are an independent political Party, standing on our feet, confident of our national appeal and will neither hold brief for anyone nor be a proxy for anyone,” he stressed.]]>
