A magistrate’s court in Brikama yesterday finally released Omar Touray.
The Gunjur native, believed to be an APRC supporter, was arrested in June and charged with seditious intention.
Prosecutors said he uttered a statement saying the president of the Republic is a ‘hypocrite and a liar knowing fully such utterances are likely going to cause contempt and incitement of violence.’
When the case was called before magistrate Omar Cham in a packed court room, prosecutors craved the indulgence of the court for an adjournment in order to seek advice from the AGs Chambers to enable them ‘put their house in order’.
However, after meeting his bail condition of D1M plus two Gambian sureties, Mr Touray walked away free.
A smiling Touray was later seen hugging well wishers and family outside the court room and taking group photos.
