The Gambian team to the African athletics championship has left town for Mauritius, the host of this year’s event. The team consists of 15 athletes including track queen Gina Bass and top male sprinters Ebrima Camara, Senghan Jobe, Alieu Joof and Adama Jammeh. The elite athletes have been on tour of France, fine-tuning their skills ahead of the continental show piece. The 2022 African Senior Athletics Championship, originally slated for Stade Olympique d’Oran in Algeria, will hold between June 8 and12 at the brand-new Côte d’Or National Sports Complex in Mauritius, which is considered one of the best technical stadiums in Africa.
