Yesterday, The Standard contacted the acting executive director at the National Sports Council Marcel Mendy who confirmed that the NSC had indeed received a correspondence from the GFF on the subject of a coach.
He said: “We have since replied to them asking about a few things and I am sure they are working on those matters for our attention.”
Mr Mendy would not however disclose what those things his office asked the GFF about are.
The Gambia national team has been without a coach since Peter Bonu Johnson left the job in the wake of The Gambia’s two-year ban by Caf. Since then, the issue of a coach has been put on the back burner. However, some observers are of the opinion that a coach should have been maintained at all times, suspension or not.
