Elections were conducted in a number of the Gambia Football Federation’s regional and affiliate associations over the weekend.
In the Kanifing Municipality, Bakary Paco Dampha was elected back into the presidency while Abdou Karim Sey too returned as West Coast Regional president.
A new president Abou Khan was elected in the North Bank, replacing Modou Mbissan who did not see reelection while Des Samba Mbenga too got his post back as head of women’s football.
Pa Suwareh Faye was again elected president of the Coaches association.
Analysts told The Standard yesterday that the regional elections so far showed a mix bag of personalities on different side of the football divide.
“The current regime at Football House would naturally be pleased with the outcome so far with very few exceptions.
The regions and affiliate associations are crucial stakeholders and the GFF management are keen to maintain or secure loyalists among the new leaders there in the build up to the national football elections next year,”he said.
