Beach volleyball top-of-table clash ahead of tomorrow’s quarter finals
After missing the 100 meters, track queen Gina Bass will today take to the tracks in the 200 meters heats at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK. The sprinter, who arrived late at the games due to visa delay, will feature in a large field that include Caribbeans, Asians and fellow Africans. Gina won the 200 meters at the African Games in 2019 and even though she won gold in the 100 meters at the recent African Seniors in Mauritius, her best event is 200meters and she would bee among the top favorites for a medal finishing in Birmingham in this event.
Also ready for the heat in the same event is new comer and US based Wurrie Njadoe who took 4th in the 100 meters heat when she made her debut for the Gambia on Tuesday.
The men’s category of the event, also holding today, will feature Adama Jammeh, Segan Jobe and Alieu Joof.
Meanwhile, the beach volleyball team is set a for top of the table clash today against Canada, both teams are through to quarter finals tomorrow but there is a small matter of who finishes on top of the pool to be decided today.
