Officials of Gambia Revenue Authority, GRA last Friday gathered at a local hotel to discuss its five-year strategic plan 2020 – 2024.
The officials used the convergence to review reports of its current strategic plan 2015 – 2019.
More than 50 staff of the revenue collecting body took part in the discussions.
GRA commissioner general Yankuba Darboe described the convergence as an indication that the GRA views strategic planning as an important tool that gives it a sense of direction and purpose.
“…These meetings help us to meet our core mandate as a revenue administration,” he said.
He noted that despite gains registered in terms of operational efficiency, organisational strength and partnerships, there is still so much to be desired at the GRA.
“Thus, going forward, business will never be the same again in terms of implementing and reporting on the strategic plan goals, objectives and activities,” he stated.
He said the GRA will ensure that only its strategic plan’s activities be provided with resources during its budget execution.
“We will also ensure our staff are accountable to any strategic plan activity.
The management will also make sure that strategic plan activities are not only implemented but also adequately and properly reported,” he said.
