Gambia U20 vice-captain Pa Omar Babou has joined compatriot Hamza Barry at Hajduk Split after completing a move to the Croatian club on Monday.
The 18-year-old joined on a free transfer from Israeli Liga Leumit (second-tier) club Ironi Ramat HaSharon with Hajduk seeing him as a prospect and thus sending him to join their reserves.
The former Banjul United teenager impressed with 23 goals in 26 youth-team appearances for former club Ramat HaSharon last season.
A statement on Hajduk’s website read: “Babou is the vice-captain of the U-20 Gambia team for which he has so far recorded 8 appearances and scored four goals and joined the club’s reserve team for which he played a few days ago in a friendly game and scored a hit.”
Hajduk have the youngest squad in the reserve league with an average age of 20 and kickoff their campaign against NK Kustošija Zagreb on August 20.
