OLYMPIANS DUE BACK TO HERO’S WELCOME

The Gambian team to the 2020 Olympic Games is due back early this morning to a hero’s welcome. The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) has confirmed that the team is expected to land at 7:45am by Turkish Airline and will be welcomed by fans who will escort them from the airport to the GNOC office before they go to join their families.

Team Gambia reached the semi finals of both the women’s 100 and 200 meters represented by Gina Bass. In the Judo Faye Njie who won silver in Africa in his category made a spirited fight that ended in the first hurdle in Tokyo while Ebrima Buaro and Ebrima Camara did their best in the swimming and the men’s 100 meters.

The GNOC officials accompanying the team paid tribute to the patriotism and professionalism of athletes and thanked their coaches for a very good representation of The Gambia.
