The criminal trial involving Edrissa Jallow, a shepherd began Monday, before Principal Magistrate Omar Cham of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.
Mr Jallow is accused of stealing 12 heads of cattle in April at Basori Village, valued at D280,000 from the herd of one Ismaila Sanneh.
Mr Sanneh told the court that he employed Jallow as his shepherd over five years ago and that the first two years, things were normal between them.
He said he however started noticing that some heads of cattle were missing.
He said four disappeared last year but the police recovered them.
Sanneh said on this particular incident, he was called at around 3:00am that his cattle were found with Mr Jallow around Janbangjelly.
He said there was also another time that one was stolen and sold but made its way back to the herd.
Hearing continues.
