SK EAST ARE CHAMPIONS

Serekunda East’s unrivalled record in the Super Nawettan continued yesterday with another title, their eight, sealed on penalties against an enterprising Bakau side.

Both sides failed to take the game in the 90 minutes dragging the prelude to the podium to   nervous spot kicks. Bakau started the lottery with Arfang Daffeh igniting the Bakau camp and sending fans to continue dreaming for the cup they thought was theirs for taking. Serekunda East kept the scoresheet level but when Bakau’s second kick by Abdoulie Saidy was saved, the zone lived on tenterhooks hoping for a Serekunda East miss. It never happened as the veteran champions kept scoring kick after kick  right down to the last shot. They won 5-4 on penalties and sent the southern half of Serekunda into an all night party. Many observers praised Bakau’s impressive run in the tourney which began with multiple draws and low rating but made it to the final.
