Former head coach of the Scorpions who is now in charge of the Central Africa Republic Raoul Savoy has said any assertion that he was sacked from the Gambian job was a lie.
Savoy, 44, whose side played a one-all draw against the Gambia in last Friday international friendly at the Independence Stadium was reacting to questions in post match interview.

“First of all they never sacked me! I want you guys to stop lying, I quit because my wife was very sick and I took the decision to talk to the ministry of sports in Zurich and Gambia Football Federation to say that I could not continue because I have to be with my wife for a couple of months. So I was not sacked!,” he said in a tense voice.

On 15 May, 2015, Raoul was appointed manager of The Gambia Senior National team but had his contract terminated by the GFF in December of the same year.
It could be recalled on 5 December 2015 GFF official Ebou Faye was quoted by the BBC as saying, “We have a mutual agreement amongst the stakeholders to terminate the services of Raoul. The coach himself has been contacted about this development and hence we want to move on, it is important that we take a different approach.”
