A five-day coaching course started on Thursday at the Gambia Football Federation Football Hotel in Yundum convened by the GFF in collaboration with the visiting German Women’s football expert Monica Staab.
The course is expected to bring together women football coaches from the primary, junior and senior secondary schools.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo described the course as another beginning in the long term partnership between the Gambia Football Federation and the German Olympic movement through Monica Staab. ‘This is a very important activity in the calendar for Monica and we at the GFF attach seriousness to the training program because the schools are the place where we can catch them young,” Bajo said. He reminded the PE Teachers to work closely with the GFF Regional Coaches for scouting and talent search in their respective schools.
For her part, Monica Staab praised the GFF for working hard on women football.’ I have never seen a football President as dedicated and passionate to the course of Women’s football as Mr Bajo’. She said the course is a very important one for the teachers to share their experiences together and reach out to the ones at the school systems.
