The combats were at some point said to have been moved to the Stadium or Kanilai but according to the National Sports Council desk officer for wrestling, Aboulie Ablo Bojang, the programme will now be held at the Buffer Zone this Saturday.
The programme will begin with the semi finals with the victorious teams proceeding to the grand finals in all categories.
Meanwhile Bojang has also revealed that the finals of the July 22 championship initially slated to be part of this weekend’s programme, has now been cancelled to avoid confusion with the current one. Asked what will be the fate of the contestants who are expecting to go the finals in that championship, Bojang said a decision has been reached to compensate them satisfactorily so that all everyone goes home happy and concentrate on the Golden Jubilee contests.
Dozens of wrestlers from the regional qualifiers supervised by NSC will be arriving today for Saturday’s show down.
According to NSC, a national football championship amongst the regions will also be staged from next weekend.
