Real de Banjul started the new season with a 2-1 victory over Talingding United Friday. But the spectacle was more present in the scenery than the match itself. It was played in the club’s new grounds at Basori, where Real has erected a magnificent pitch and other facilities second to nothing so far in The Gambia. The exotic setting excited both players and the spectators who turned up to marvel at the complex.
The club officials took to the social media to celebrate the historic even of the first league match to be played in the new complex. “We secured a win in our opening game of the season with a 2-1 victory over Tallinding United.Goals from Salifu Colley (L) and Ebrima Jatta (R) were enough to hand us maximum points at the Live Your Dreams Academy in Basori on Friday,” the club announced on facebook. On the eve of the match the club wrote: ‘We need the goodwill of the people as tomorrow is history day; sleep in our own house;Travel in our own bus;Go play competitive game in our own stadium”.
