League leaders Fortune FC will play second place Gambia Armed Forces after Iftar tonight before Real de Banjul begin a new chapter under Coach Bye Malleh Wadda who returned to guide his former team through the remainder of the league and beyond.
Fortune, enjoying a four-point lead on top of the pack are not intimidated and would still be leaders at the end of first round even if they are defeated. But Jane Joof’s Petroleum Boys are in no mood to surrender the lead to any soldier and are hell bent on extending their haulage tonight.
GAF has been putting pressure on Fortune though and coach Ebrima Jatta’s ambition is to stop Fortune from running away. Fortune is happy with the return of team captain Sherrifo Darboe and Samboujang Touray who were absent in the victory over GPA last week through suspension. Armed Forces too have the services of lethal attacker Saikou Ceesay, the second top scorer in the league to rely on tonight. This match kicks-off at 20:30 but once you are in the stadium already, stay put because Real De Banjul will play Banjul United as new coach Bye Malleh replaces Ebou Jarra. BMW, as the new Real coach is romantically called, is tasked to usher in a new era Real at the pace and speed of the car of the same model BMW. That match starts at 22:30.
Tomorrow at 20:30, GPA will battle with Waa Banjul and Ports will be keen to consolidate their impressive place among the top three of the league. Then later at 22:30, Elite United and BK Millan will clash to formally bring the first round of the league to a close.
