The Government of the Gambia has reacted swiftly and strongly to news of The Gambia's disqualification from the Caf Under-20 Championship. The concern of the government was conveyed in a strongly­­­-worded statement by the National Sports Council, the technical arm of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which expressed total consternation about the news of The Gambia's disqualification, calling it a national embarrassment which could have been avoided.
