The Gambia’s hottest striker Assan Ceesay, the player who scored two goals against Angola last week, will not feature in this evening’s match against DR Congo. Also, flamboyant defender Ngine Faye Njie and midfielder Ablie Jallow are both not available for service tonight according to a statement from the Gambia Football Federation GFF. Football House explained that Assan Ceesay had picked up two yellow cards, one each from the last two matches away to Djibouti and Angola respectively which attracts a one match ban by Caf. The GFF further explained that Ngine and Ablie are still nursing their injuries sustained in the Scorpions’ away leg to Angola last week.
Apparently concern that the absence of the players could be badly felt by the fans, the GFF last night prepared fans and begged for understanding: “We crave the indulgence of the general public to remain calm and patient asall three players will be back in subsequent matches,” the GFF said yesterday.
