Dr. Samba Bah has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the Student Revolving Loan Scheme.
The Scheme is designed to provide financial assistance to students pursuing tertiary education. Dr. Bah, a distinguished scholar who recently earned his PhD in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Ohio University, USA brings a wealth of expertise and a proven track record in higher education leadership, administration, and finance to this critical role.The Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Professor Pierre Gomez, said Dr Bah’s profound understanding of the financial challenges facing students, combined with his extensive experience in strategic management and stakeholder engagement, makes him the ideal person to steer this vital national programme. “We are confident that under his leadership, the Scheme will enhance impact and sustainability, ensuring greater access to higher education for all deserving Gambian students,” Professor Gomez added.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Dr. Bah said, “I am deeply honoured by the confidence bestowed in me by the Office of the President and the Ministry of Higher Education. I am committed to working diligently with all stakeholders to ensure the effective operationalisation of the Student Revolving Loan Scheme Act, 2025, and to contribute towards advancing equitable access to higher education and the development of our nation’s human capital.”
Dr. Bah’s professional background includes significant leadership roles in both The Gambia and the United States. He served as the Speaker of the National Youth Parliament of The Gambia, where he demonstrated exceptional skill in governance, advocacy, and securing international funding. His recent work has involved programme management, policy advice, and providing strategic support in educational and resettlement contexts.
