The race started on the 8 June 2014 with the last lap, Westfield to Banjul, covered yesterday.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Abdourahman Kanteh, programme manager of the Nova Scotia–Gambia Association, NSGA, the partners of the event, said the run aimed at raising funds for the implementation of NSGA projects in The Gambia.
He disclosed that the event is held in great esteem and closely followed back in Canada on the National Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and face book.
He commended the three Gambian co-runners Pa Modou Sarr, Yankuba Bojang and Dodou Bah for joining Terry SanCartier to conduct the run.
The main runner Terry SanCartier said the 424km run was a great experience and a noble cause to raise funds for NSGA’s volunteerism in The Gambia.
“I’m really motivated because I am the first male to lead the Love4gambia run, following the footpath of the two ladies who started it,” he said.
Pa Modou Sarr, team coordinator disclosed that the organisation was able to raise 14,000 Canadian dollars before the run started but couldn’t confirm the exact amount after the run.
He thanked their partners for the support and urged the Gambian populace to appreciate this run since the funds raised will be utilised in their interest.
Yankuba Bojang also shared similar sentiments.
